My name is Phillip. I am a 50-year-old man who has been incarcerated since I was 19. I was born and raised in the southwest area of Baltimore City, where I saw many things that a child's eyes should never have to behold. I am a product of my environment, shaped by the circumstances of low income and inner-city turmoil. I was a good person, but I did what I saw and followed behind the only role models I saw. I sold drugs, I carried guns, I robbed other hustlers in the neighborhood... these things I am not proud of but it was the model of behavior that was laid out before me. You only do what you've been taught.
My parents had their own traumas and life struggles which made it a trial for them to raise and protect their children. Life in the inner city is wrought with conditions that arrest the healthy development of kids, and as a consequence, they have detoured down roads of self-destruction.
Education brought me back from the precipice, I had a sharp mind and so, I was quick to adjust in areas of consciousness. I could grasp concepts, and reshape my mentality through words of wisdom and enlightenment. I only lived 19 years out in society and so although the damage had been done to my psyche, I've used my solitary as an ashram of mental and emotional growth.
Please travel with me, as my journey has only just begun. I share with you my past in hopes that you will see it as an investment in my future...thank you to all who have walked with, supported, and taken the time to know me, I am deeply touched and grateful to you.

As technology advances, I am discovering that there is an avenue as well as an opportunity for the incarcerated population to reach out from beyond the confines of prison, and have a voice.
My goal is to establish partnerships between men/women who are inside, with those who are outside. If we join forces we can achieve the objective of dismantling the prison industrial complex and put an end to mass incarceration. It is time we invest resources into reform and reentry.
We should begin the journey back to society from the first day we arrive in prison. We need access to society and so, each advocate for criminal justice should work with someone on the inside to achieve the maximum effect. I can be reached via Twitter, at grant parole to Phillip @PhillipAJones71, website @ www.grantparoletoPhillip.com
Phillip has languished in prison for nearly 31 years. He went in at age 19. He is now 50. He has lost his mother and his only two siblings while he has been imprisoned. He has lost all the years of raising his one and only daughter. He has completed years of programming while in prison, and has completed his GED and college coursework working toward a Business degree. He has had zero infractions of rules for over ten years. He is a writer, mentor, and activist for positive change.
We are a team of professionals who strongly believe in Phillip. We need to hire an attorney to file the appropriate motions to see that he is released. We estimate that $25,000 will cover these efforts. A 19 year old does not have a fully developed adult brain and would not know how to handle wrongful incarceration, but a 50 year old with intelligence and integrity knows the difference between right and wrong. We are on the side of justice. Please join us in our efforts to deliver freedom and justice to Phillip at long last. Every dollar you DONATE will make a difference. Thank you!
